Safe Patient Handling and the Rifton TRAM
As carers well know, safe patient handling is becoming a widely accepted discipline. Advocating the use of lifts and additional equipment for patient transfers and gait training routines, the authorities seek to eliminate all unnecessary and unsafe manual handling of patients. This is because statistics have clearly shown that work-related musculoskeletal disorders resulting from manual patient lifts and transfers are unfortunately common in the healthcare field, often resulting in costly workers’ compensation claims, lost work time or practitioners leaving the profession altogether.
More information regarding cost (and back) savings in health and social care can be found in the Safe Patient Handling and Mobility article on the Rifton website.
