Introducing Luca

Luca, who is now 5, was born prematurely at 25 weeks weighing just 1lb, 6oz and has Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. He attends mainstream school, but due to his condition, he is unable to use a self propelling wheelchair so has to rely on teachers and his peers to move around school.

Luca has recently been assessed in a Rifton Dynamic Pacer in a bid to give him increased independence. Previous to this, he has never used a walker before, but as you can see below, this did not prove to be a challenge, and he instantly loved using the Pacer.

Following his assessment, Luca’s family told us “he has never used a walker before and we can’t explain how proud we are of him, he is a very inspiring little boy!”

Luca is walking in a New Pacer Gait Trainer by Rifton, which helps achieve proper positioning and provides dynamic weight bearing and weight shifting needed for a more natural gait pattern and easier stepping. Click here to find out more.
