Jiraffe Give Amy’s House 500 Reasons to be Grateful!

Amy’s House is a Sheffield charity which caters for children aged 5-18 and provides Saturday and school holiday sessions, family support, sensory room sessions, support in the home and inclusive activities. It is a safe and secure environment and Amy’s House work hard to reduce prejudice and ignorance faced by these individuals and to provide children with social interaction, care, education and exercise in a fun and stimulating environment through a team of passionate and experienced carers, bringing joy into their young lives.

Sadly, the charity was left devastated by thieves and staff at Amy’s House, were heartbroken after specially-adapted tricycles, bicycles and scooters were recently stolen.

After learning of the incident, we decided that this wasn’t good enough and contacted Amy’s House to offer to donate £500 worth of equipment, which representatives of Amy’s House were delighted to accept.

Jayne Hurditch, whose mother and father Meriel and Maurice Littlewood set-up Amy’s House in 2003, and charity chief executive Antonia Seward, received the giant cheque from our General Manager, Holly Jenkins.

Jayne Hurditch said: “This donation is a fantastic gesture from Jiraffe! Amy’s House receives no government funding so we rely on kind donations from both local organisations and the community and this huge amount of money will make an enormous difference for everyone involved with the charity.

“We will now go through the Jiraffe catalogue and choose exactly what we will spend the money on to replace both the stolen and existing old equipment for the children to enjoy using outdoors during the summer months.”

Holly Jenkins, Jiraffe General Manager, said: “Everyone at Jiraffe was saddened to hear of the awful recent thefts from Amy’s House and the impact that this would have on the lives of young, local children. After meeting with Jayne and Antonia we couldn’t help but feel inspired by the truly fantastic work that they do to support the local community and we’re delighted therefore to be able to help.”
